We thought this was a great hotel.
The location is convenient to the metro,
the Eiffel Tower and is right in the middle of a food lovers paradise. the
rooms are small but, for the price, very elegant.
Lovely hotel in a convenient location. I found it very comfortable
as a woman traveling alone.
This hotel is very strongly endorsed by guidebook maven
Rick Steves and tends to be full of Americans who read
his guidebooks. It is, however an excellent value and
located in a wonderful neighborhood, right smack in the
pedestrian Rue Cler area.
Rooms are fairly small even for Paris, but it has been
recently renovated and the staff are quite friendly.
I had a delightful time at the
Champ de Mars hotel! The rooms are
very clean, the decoration cheerful,
the owners are extremely friendly,
helpful,
and welcoming. The location, in my
opinion, is ideal for tourists or
anyone with business in Paris. It
is so conveniently located to
transportation, and the nearby
shops and restaurants are
wonderful. Did I mention the
price is very reasonable?
You can tell that I loved
this place, can't you?
This was where we stayed our first 3 nights in Paris and just loved it. We wanted to stay longer but it was already filled - be sure to reserve early! The price is extraordinary for the location and charm of this place.
My husband, eight-year-old son and I stayed here for a week. The hotel is very charming and in a great location. We didn't find the room too small(we've stayed in smaller in Paris) and the value is incredible. The rue Cler market is an attraction in itself - great food, beautiful flowers. The hotel was full of Americans, so think twice if you are hoping to meet Europeans or visitors from other parts of France. I highly reccommend this hotel. Also - I hear it is necessary to book well in advance.
We loved the location, the neighborhood restaurants, the convience of the metro (about 2 blocks) the price of the rooms & the general safety of the area. The hotel is clean and well run. The rooms are small but we expected that. The owners are always updating & remodeling the hotel. We however found the Gourdals, especially Stephane, to be cold, arrogant & not helpful. Since several of the guidebooks as well as the Oct.'98 Wine Spectator raved about the owners I guess I expected more. We both had terrible colds & ran out of Kleenex in our room. The night desk clerk refused to give us another box. "It is not possible...you must buy some are the store." The store was closed. Our bathroom had ants & it became a major ordeal (& evidently a huge bother to the Gordals) to switch rooms. We travel France frequentely & try hard not to be ugly Americans when overseas. We had some basic questions concerning the area & can honestly say we seldom experience the rudeness shown us in their response. I don't know if I will stay there again.
This is my favorite hotel in Paris. The location in Paris is perfect. The people who take care of it, are also perfect.
What a charming hotel! Very friendly people and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and conversations with the owners. They have done a beautiful job on the re-decoration and the light breakfast they offer for a reasonable price was just right for us. We are planning a return very soon. Thanks!
I can not say enough about this wonderful little hotel. We had a bright and cheery room that we could see the Eiffel Tower from.
The owners Francoise and Stephane Gourdal were wonderful. If we go back to Paris I would not hesitate to stay there again. The rooms are decorated in the traditional yellow and blue and very clean.
You must make your reservation early as they are always busy. We were fortunate enough to stay there 3 nights. I would recommend this small hotel to anyone who wants to get the real feel of Paris and it's wonderful neighborhood Rue Cler.
I just returned from a four-night stay at this hotel and found it to be a very positive experience. I was traveling on business in southern France and concluded my trip with a few days in Paris. As a woman traveling alone, I was very comfortable in the neighborhood, and the hotel itself was satisfactory in every way. My single room was tiny but cheerful with plenty of storage, and the bathroom was clean and bright (a VERY slow drain in the shower stall but was not a problem for me). There is a wonderful neighborhood bakery on the corner and a choice of several great restaurants within one block. I would definitely reserve at this hotel again, either as a single person or with my family.

This was our first trip to Paris, we went with friends and stayed at the Champs du Mars for 6 nights. I can not imagine a more wonderful experience. The location was incredible and the people were friendly and accomodating. I do not have another experience to base this on, but it was a trip of a lifetime that we will always remember, and the hotel was a big part of its success. Thanks Gourdals for making our trip so nice.
We were at the Champ De Mars in the spring and found everything as had been recommended. Clean and comfortable rooms and excellent service. Great location and many good restaurants in the area. We will stay here on our next trip. JC from Texas
We were totally delighted with this little hotel in the Rue Cler neighborhood. It's location is ideal and the rooms are pleasant and so are the hosts. The breakfast they serve is a great way to start your day. We really felt that this was our "home" for our stay in Paris and look forward to staying there on our next visit.
