In the 13th century this small 'street' was known as Ruelle Neuve-Saint-Paul.
Beginning in the 17th century, it was Neuve-Sainte-Anastase. Only in
1864 did it take the name Eginhard - an historian of the 8th and 9th century.
At the end of the cul-de-sac is an emplacement for a fountain. Next to the
fountain emplacement, to the left, is a forged iron grill with the letters
"S" and "A" visible - all that indicates that this
used to be the site of the Hospitalières de Sainte-Anastase.
