The Paris Kiosque - like the rest of Paris - rests during the
month of August. We return in September. Bonne Vacance!
In Part of the Rue Saint-Jacques -
Richard Erickson -
Ric turns into
the Rue Saint- Jacques - not where it begins about
a block south of the Seine - but somewhere on
its way to Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain. As
far as Paris of this trip is concerned, he starts
where the street officially ends - but the whole
thing used to be part of the old pilgrimage route.
Letter From Paris -
Harriet Welty-Rochefort -
What do Alexander Soljenitsyne, Marguerite Duras, Woody Allen,
Catherine Deneuve and Pierre-Gilles de Genes have in common? The Russian
writer, French author and playwright, American film producer, French actress
and French Nobel Prize winner - as well as countless others of their stature
- have all been guests of enthuasiastic and ebullient Bernard Pivot
(pronounced PEE VOH), who's hosted two enormously popular TV talk shows
since the late 1970s.
Marcel Proust -
Norman Barth -
Proust is remembered principally for his master work
À la recherche du temps perdu (1913 - 1927; Remberance
of Things Past), a seven volume novel based on his life,
the last two volumes being published posthumously.
