Norman Barth is a researcher in the natural sciences. He has lived and studied extensively in Western Europe, North America, and Africa. He began Les Pages de Paris / The Paris Pages web site shortly after coming to US from France in 1994 as a personal initiative to put cultural content online in a non-commercial way. During the past three years, he has developed the paradigm of web-site-as-almost-database and confronted the problem of how to associate diverse data types found in a web sites in useful ways. He has worked with the internet for over 10 years; computes daily on platforms ranging from Cray/SGIs to PCs/Macintoshs and uses languages from FORTRAN, C, & Perl to English, French, and German. His Ph.D. in physics, he has written and presented papers in several scientific fields. Currently he lives in La Jolla, California.
